FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS: PT

Welcome to the Integrative Therapeutics Inc Help Center. For your convenience, we’ve put together a list of some common questions and answers. Perhaps you have the same question that was on somebody else’s mind. Can’t find what you’re looking for? Drop us a line and our team of professionals will be happy to find the answer for you.

WHAT DO PHYSICAL THERAPISTS DO?

Physical therapists are licensed health care professionals specializing in rehabilitation.  They design and implement comprehensive, personalized treatment plans for a variety of musculoskeletal problems.  A physical therapist’s training includes extensive coursework in anatomy, physiology, kinesiology, and exercise physiology.    At Integrative Therapeutics, our therapists specialize in orthopedic rehabilitation, and have undergone extensive postgraduate training in manual therapy, therapeutic exercise prescription, and post-operative orthopedic rehabilitation.

WHAT CAN I EXPECT FROM A COURSE OF PHYSICAL THERAPY AT INTEGRATIVE THERAPEUTICS?

Integrative Therapeutics’ approach to patient management is what sets our physical therapy team apart from other outpatient practices in the region.  Our treatments are based on a detailed, individualized mechanical evaluation that seeks to identify the specific factors contributing to a patient’s problem.  We then seek to address these findings by combining advanced manual therapy with specific therapeutic exercise.    To insure treatment consistency we schedule patients with the same clinician for their entire course of care.  Our therapists see only one patient at a time, so our clients receive the undivided clinical attention they require and deserve.

HOW LONG ARE THE SESSIONS?

Physical therapy evaluations (the initial visit) typically last 45 minutes.  The bulk of this time is spent identifying the specific problems causing an individual’s symptoms.
Subsequent treatment visits are also typically 45 minutes.  We schedule this amount of uninterrupted time because we believe that this is the most effective way to treat most orthopedic conditions.  We do not double book or overlap appointments, so your therapist’s attention is undivided.  Your appointment time is truly yours.

WHAT SHOULD I BRING TO MY FIRST VISIT?

There are a few simple things that you can do to make the most of your initial evaluation:
1.     Wear clothing that makes it easy to expose the problem area.  (For example, for a knee, ankle, or hip problem, bring or wear shorts. ) For spine problems, we have gowns to change into, should the need arise.
2.     If a physician is prescribing your physical therapy, please bring your prescription with you.  If your physician has told you that he or she will fax your prescription, please call us before your appointment to confirm that it has arrived.
3.     If you have had any imaging studies done (x-rays or MRI’s, for example) please bring a copy of the radiologist’s report.
4.     Please arrive 5-10 minutes early to allow for time to check in, complete paperwork,  and finish any last minute administrative details.

WHAT INSURANCES DO YOU ACCEPT?

We currently are “in-network” providers for all  Blue Cross and Blue Shield plans, and Mass General Brigham (formerly Allways Heath) HMO and PPO plans.  We are also Medicare “participating providers”.
Private pay rates for physical therapy are $160 for the initial evaluation and $110 for follow up treatments. All sessions are 45 minutes long, one on one, with your treating therapist.
We do not accept worker’s compensation or motor vehicle accident (also known as MVA) insurance for physical therapy services.
